fc21989df0 Even when there are utmpx files on this system we should also log to 
the utmp files. If there are no utmp files we of course don't have to
log to them.

3ce7399a11 Added code for handling the case of using `bison' and having no 
`alloca'.  Alloca is usually never called anyway, so we just use
`malloc'.
