5d3efae463 aix case: assume gcc handles -pthread, in the non-gcc case, use the 
compiler as hint (xlc vs xlc_r) if this environment handles threads or not

645647cbaa AC_CHECK_DECL and AC_CHECK_DECLS have a subtile diffrence, the later 
defines HAVE_ cpp symbols, the first doesn't.
