mpd has a lot of different clients, both for cli, tui, web and mobile. If we could hijack their API for things like reordering songs, play/pause, adding/removing songs, skipping, and possibly also more advanced things like saving playlists and adjusting volume, it would be very nice. We could take advantage of an already "flourishing" ecosystem.
